During the mission trip to Senegal in 2024, the Project Safety Nets team achieved an incredible milestone with our Sight for Senegal program. Throughout the trip, we held three eye clinics in the Rufisque area, offering eye examinations to over 300 students and residents, providing many with the life-changing gift of clear vision.

Earlier in the year, our team underwent rigorous training to become Trained Refractionists. This monumental achievement was made possible through our partnership with Global Vision 2020 and its innovative founder and director, Kevin White. Kevin’s groundbreaking “Dial, Snap, Wear” process revolutionized our approach, enabling us to examine patients, determine their exact prescriptions, and assemble their glasses—all in just 15 minutes!
Equipped with this knowledge and new skills, the team operated the eye clinics, providing precise and efficient care to those in need. For years, we’ve been dedicated to collecting and distributing over 15,000 used eyeglasses to individuals who cannot afford eye care. Now, with this training and improved capabilities, we’ve elevated our mission to a whole new level. We are incredibly grateful to our team leader, LaVerne Campbell, who organized the training and coordinated our efforts to deliver life-changing care in Senegal.
